Our Facilities
Pinehaven Bike Track
We have 3 bike tracks on our field which were opened in February 2015. We have a 502m Loop Track, a Skills Track with obstacles and a Pump Track. Our children ride the tracks during class time and lunchtimes. We have our own bikes and helmets.
The bike track is open to the public to enjoy outside of school hours.
Playgrounds
We have two adventure playgrounds in the school and our children are allowed to play anywhere within our school boundaries. There are swings, various slides, and balancing activities within the playgrounds. The adventure playgrounds are enjoyed by our children before and after school, and at break times. They are also enjoyed by our community out of school hours.
We have expansive fields that are connected to Pinehaven Reserve. Plenty of courts are available for children to play netball, basketball and other games. Playground markings encourage positive play.
Information Communication Technology
We have a range of ICT equipment in the school that is used to enhance learning opportunities in an integrated manner. This includes ipads, netbooks and desktop stations. All classrooms have large screen TVs that are used as large computer screens for shared class work. The school has developed a plan to continue to purchase more hardware, which will enable increased numbers of children to have access to devices at any one time.
Vegetable Garden
We have a gardening group who care for our vegetable garden. We also have class gardens. Over time, we hope to extend our vegetable gardens and have increased numbers of children involved in the gardening activities.
Library
Pinehaven School has a well resourced library with a collection that supports classroom learning programmes and also caters for the recreational reading needs of the children. Classes have timetabled library visits where they can carry out research and issue/return books to be used in class and/or taken home.
Pinehaven Community Library
We also have a close relationship with the Pinehaven Community Library (a branch of Upper Hutt Library) which is situated across the road from the school. Children are all provided with enrolment information for a public library card when they begin school. Classes usually visit the library about twice a term.
Hall
Our hall is situated at the front of our school. We use our hall for school events and it can also be hired out by community members. Please contact the school office if you wish to find out more information about hiring our hall.
